Lantana Camara【By Charles Wu】

Its leaves are coarse and its fruits group like a ball.

Along the green branches, many sharp thorns install.

Its flowers look more vivid than plum blossom.

They bloom in spring, summer, winter and autumn.

My Daughters【By Charles Wu】

I am so glad to be the father of three daughters.
They are so sweet that we become happy partners.
Female can do male’s job if their ability tallies.
My wife and I should put our heart at ease.
Growing old, we need not worry about our future.
Our daughters will wait upon us with respect and pleasure.
The plus and minus sides of “Tai-ji” picture meet at end.
All living creatures are equal ! Nobody can amend.

The Fireworks [By Charles Wu]

The hovering rockets are so unselfish.

Despite the chill and height, they express their wish.

Making noises louder than the firecracker.

Gesturing nicely like the dragon dancer.

After they emit dazzling light in crazes

Their bodies will then explode in small pieces.

They have no aim in their life but to enjoy

Thus attracting a big crowd to share their joy.

To protect his family members, he tries his best.

In Father’s day, he is supposed to be the guest.

After lunch, it is again father who pays the bill.

To Greet The Plum Blossom【By Charles Wu】

In spring, snow ruined all except the plum still with red flower.

Plum tree did experience severe coldness in winter.

The poet in Hong Kong showed his concern at a distance.

When can I pick the blossom and smell its fragrance ?

Out of the coastal beach, a magnificent long dike paves.

Such fairyland attracts tourists pouring in like pulses.

Faint mist covers the beyond European-style houses.

Pine trees stretch their branches and seem fall in love with the waves.

She was a teacher, a good wife and a nice mother;
Who had never shed tears even under pressure.
Everyone got along with her cheerfully in the chapel.
Never argue with her mother-in-law proved to be useful.
Her daddy and her father-in-law got sick at the same time.
Best efforts were tried by her to make the two families chime.
When relatives lived in harmony, all affairs would prosper.
Her students loved her more than their planted orchid flower.

As an investigator, I enforce the law strictly.

Meanwhile, I deal with members of the public fairly.

People give me a nickname, The Black Iron Face.

My colleagues always deem me as their bookcase.

Law-abiding citizens welcome my enquiry.

Illegal merchants bribe me with offers of money.

Now I am tired of the fierce battle with the smugglers.

Beside my flowers, I read poems of the ancient authors.

初冬冷意浸花欄 , 落葉蕭蕭竹影寒。縹節儲霜輕霧泊 ; 黃苞奪翠美人觀。

叢長蔭路身堪用 ; 根瘦無塵筍可餐。傲世甘為名士筆 , 虛心正直似廉官。

Bamboo【By Charles Wu】

In early winter, cold wind attacked the flower railing.
Leaves fell from trees yet the bamboo was still growing.
Frost condensed at their joints with mist mooring around.
Their green trunks turned yellow near which poets were found.
Their shadows covered the road while their bodies were in use.
People ate their shoots and their clean roots made them muse.
Bamboo was proud to be the shaft of Chinese writing brush.
With it, honest official could complete cases in a rush !

絲綢之路始西安 , 秦俑城牆大雁寒。明代雄關嘉峪立 ; 黃河皮筏鐵橋看。

月牙泉湧沙鳴響 ; 石窟珍藏畫破殘。火焰山懷冰水井 , 天池客坐牧場鞍。

Silk Road Journey【By Charles Wu】

From Xian, we started our nine-day Silk Road journey.

Wild geese perched at Qin figurines of the wall like an army.

Enjoying the “Jia-yu” ancient pass, we praised the builder.

Skin raft could be seen under the bridge of Yellow River.

An inverted image of the sand dune, the Moon Spring gave.

The “Dun-huang” frescoes faded incompletely at the rocky cave.

Icy water wells were dug at the Flame Mountain border.

From the Hilltop Lake, we rode horses in “Nan-shan” pasture

Those appearing in Chang-jia-jie are as handsome as prince.

The steep one looks like yellow dragon coiling round the rock;

Some scatter in the valley as models in their catwalk.

Merry Retirement【By Charles Wu】
I am a low rank official in the government;

Who soon arrives at the age of retirement.

Exercise is my routine in morning and evening.

I take a noon rest in the bed for meditating.

At times , I practise calligraphy with a Chinese brush.

Computer is used to amend my verses not in a rush.

Chanting poem makes me very happy.

My black hair turns grey but I do not worry.

Rapid water of Yangtze River passes the three gorges.
Under the gaps of steep hills, our ferry crosses.
Thin mist and green trees surround the strangely shaped boulder.

武夷高聳入雲間 , 九曲清溪繞翠山。玉女大王翹首望 , 天游艷影水中閒。

To Tour Mt. Wu-Yi [1]【By Charles Wu】
Mount “ Wu-Yi ” is green, cloud-capped and so high ;
Around which the clear ‘ Stream With Nine Bends ’ does lie.
The “King Peak” raises his head and looks at the “Queen ”.
In the water, their lovely inverted images can be seen.
