身長根淺有誰知 , 西倒東扶似學詩。月下蘆花欣起舞 , 逍遙直到白頭時。

Reed Catkins [By Charles Wu]
Stems of reed are so tall yet their roots so short ; who will know !
Like poem-beginners, they bend down as the wind does blow.
Their catkins dance meretriciously under the moonlight.
As if poets enjoying themselves till their hairs turn white.

Three Gorges Tour【By Charles Wu】
How misty , steep , savage and strange are the three gorges tips !
Grand Qu-tang gorge seems undergo uncanny workmanships.
Green trees grow atop the Dragon Gate where Ba fog will clip.
Xi-ling and Shen-nu gorges impress me most after the trip.

Mountains of Guilin rose abruptly but shaped well.
Like charming celestials, the peaks looked beautiful.
The River Li spiraling around them like a jade belt.
Camel Hump and Die-Cai were sceneries of graceful.

昨夜淒風遣雨絲 , 群芳搖曳力難支。楚宮傾國埋幽徑 ; 吳苑殘英泛小池。
設塚留香猶愛惜 ; 扶鋤覓處費猜疑。吾今哭祭花無語 , 花欲葬余安可期。

To Bury My Flowers【By Charles Wu】
The wind blew bitterly with rain during lasr night.
All flowers flickered and could hardly stand upright.
They looked like beauties lying in the path at dark.
Some of them were drowned in the small pool of my park.
Treasuring the poor blossoms , I set up a tomb.
With a hoe, I sought a good place as their bedroom.
I wept in the funeral while they kept silence.
‘ Will you bury me in future ? ’ I aired my grievance.

Grateful To My Teacher【By Charles Wu】
Thank my teacher who makes me pass the examination.
In many subjects, I attain the grade of distinction.
I am still treasuring the souvenirs in my book.
Family letter is written with a success outlook.
Receiving the report, my parents are very happy.
They hold party to celebrate their son studying ably.
In Hong Kong, friends are invited to attend a banquet.
To chant poems and warm wine on stove is our favourite.

僑生畢業離營日 ; 排長開心放假時。袍澤情深堪愛惜 , 今朝結訓淚盈卮。

Military Training【By Charles Wu】
Hearing morning bugle, I rushed to the flag-raising rite.
The ugly cotton-wadded quilt was deemed to be alright.
I was not up to the standard in parade and shooting .
Face with mud ; helmet with leaves, I was camouflaging.
After training , all overseas students would be away.
The platoon leader was happy to be on holiday.
Cherishing our friendship, all people must say good-bye.
We drank wine in the graduation party and I did cry.

Not To Kill Migrant Birds【By Charles Wu】
People in Hunan should have thought things over,
Killing migrant birds shouldn’t have been allowed.
There’s a maximum allowance on lumbers cutting,
Shouldn’t there be a time frame for birds catching?
The ordinary people need to honor their own debts,
If it’s not done in this life, it'll be carried to the next.
The migrant bird has become an endanger species,
That leaves only a shame for other nations to tease.
Please do take the advices and stop brutal killings.
Mercy will reward good deed from heavenly gods.

徹夜狂風欲折枝 , 鮮花墮地苦無依。落紅隨水飄浮去 ; 殘艷留香引息知。
掘土埋芳塵染淚 ; 設墳安魄口吟詩。撫襟長嘆難言語 , 靜聽林間鳥囀悲。

Flower Sympathizer【By Charles Wu】
Last night, the blast nearly ruined the blossom bush.
Helpless flowers fell on the ground after the ambush.
Some of them were carried away by water running.
Inhaling the fragrance, I found some still remaining.
To bury them, I dug the soil which shed tear.
A funeral poem was chanted when the tomb did appear.
I could not utter a word but made a deep sigh.
In silence, I heard the forest birds did sadly cry.

Disneyland【By Charles Wu】
Hong Kong Disneyland is open for business today.
The paradise looks so new that all cheer, ‘Hurrah !’
Looking at the castle, you may dream about your childhood.
Flying over the stars, you explore the space where you could.
Forest beasts dance in the Festival of the Lion King.
Cinderella becomes a beauty and the mice sing.
The display of fireworks makes visitors so amazing.
They enjoy themselves but hesitate before leaving.

Xuan-zang [By Charles Wu]
The Buddhist monk was on the way to the west.
Three followers protected him and tried their best.
In the journey, they met a lot of demons and monsters.
His persistence on mercy embarrassed the protectors.
The Vulture Peak in India was far away ; who cared.
To conquer the Quick Sand River and Flame Mountain they dared.
All Sutras he obtained contained no Chinese character.
Then he had to translate the Sanskrit letter by letter.

Good at calligraphy, he moves his pen like a bird.
His poem is full of Buddhist allegorical word.
I meet him in Hong Kong after separation for years.
Things have changed but he still looks like an old plum tree with cheers.

My Feeling Towards Autumn【By Charles Wu】
Red maple flickered as the crows flew to their nest.
Four seasons took their turn and autumn was the best.
Falling leaves and withering lotus told me my old date.
With anger, the gusty cold wind knocked my wicker gate.
On strategy and tactics, ‘Jiang-shang’ was honoured the sage.
‘Lian-po’ became famous militarily despite of his age.
Writing poems at late hours, my fatigue I did forget.
Just like fairy surfing internet in the sunset.

Violent wind blows under the autumn rain.
My brother comes home from Taiwan again.
He speaks with accent of foreign province.
Years passed, his face looks the same ever since.
‘Home, sweet home !’ he sighs with deep feeling.
‘Let’s try the fat floodgate crabs !’ he keeps pleading.
His temples turn grey after long separation.
Relatives and friends talk to him with great passion.

The diligent hermit works well for an elder aged,
Reading books and doing Calligraphy so engaged.
He loves the company, the wonder of nature.
In his boat alone, he proudly lowers his anchor.
He praises for a living like Tao-qian, the Wisefellow.
He fishes in Jiang-shang's style,
With no hook, he hovers yet enjoys the flavor.
