Plum Shadow On My Desk【By Charles Wu】
The rising moon on the plum tip shines on my window.
My reading room is dimly dredged with plum shadow.
I may get my luxurious house and beauty from books.
I can learn “Tang” poems and “Han” articles in ancient looks.
After study of seal characters, my mind will broaden.
Using “Yi” divination, I can tell your fortune.
Knowing virtuous persons from books, I act humbly.
Still, I try to escape the ridicule of the plum fairy.

Children are often brought to restaurant by their mother.
We seldom see filial son entertains his father.
Roasted goose with prepared jellyfish can be ordered here.
People eat floodgate crab ; drink “Shao-xing” wine and say “Cheer!”
Enjoying well-known tea, they develop their friendship.
Sometimes, they play mahjong to show their good relationship.
Dear foods are offered in the parties held by rich customers.  
The abalone and sea cucumber cost thousand dollars.

I saw my daughter off at the airport and said good-bye.
Nothing could be done about her migration but a sigh.
The crow was a kind bird who fed her old mother.
Falcon loved hunting and was leaving her father.
She migrated to foreign country for a better life.
Married with her boy friend there, she would be a good wife.
Her gray-haired parents gave her many advices at one time.

Envying to be with her chosen Mr. Right

My daughter decided to become a bride.

Although migrating to Canada was such a sudden,

She was very pleasant to marry Mr. Zheng.

My baby wedded and became a happy woman,

She’s then prepared to welcome her own children.

I am so grateful for God's wonder and kindness care,

I enjoy drinking tea with my baby and her loving pair.

Shadow of plum tree can be seen slanting in the water.
It grows near the stream and blooms beautiful flower.
The spring drizzle carefully moistens its blossoms which yawn.
Shone by the morning sun, it looks as rosy cloud at dawn.
Conquering the weather, it fights against the frost and snow.
Its fragrance can be smelt near and far when the wind does blow.
With vigorous branches, it has an unique appearance.

Receiving letter from my daughter, I am so happy.
A few years has passed since she left home in a hurry.
The most pleasing words being “ I am safe and healthy! ”
The contents about trivial are as sweet as honey.
Dropping everything, I read it once and again.
Then I say my prayers , “May God bless you! Amen ! ”
I dream to stay at her bed and tell my daughter a tale.
This dream is included in my reply by airmail.

The bank willow teases the new moon.

Bridge light will kiss the spring flowers soon.

As Mr. Tao, I live in seclusion.

I can write Li’s verse after a fashion.

People always say spring night is very short.

“The retired will not feel the same ! ” I retort.

The Guang-zhou Tour【By Charles Wu】
I was homesick during Mid-autumn festival.  
Returning to Guang-zhou, I saw my aunt as usual.
All my relatives greeted me cordially.
The reunion made everybody very happy.
We visited the market and went shopping.
Touring the exhibition centres, we kept on roaming.
The lights along Pearl River were so brilliant.
‘Guang-xiao’ Temple was pretty famous but ancient.
‘Huang-pu’ military school became world renown.
‘Five-Sheep’ park was located in the centre of the town.
The constitution written by Dr. Sun did succeed.
In yellow-flower hillock, martyrs were proudly buried.
All restaurants provided delicious shrimp and chicken.
The orange was so sweet and ‘Li-zhi’ fruit so ripen.
This place was much more flourishing than before.
Everything was unforgettable and I did adore.

They dressed up brightly to do acrobatics and sang.
We went touring the market after show finished.
And tasted the fruits of Guangxi's as we wished.

The ‘Granddeur Garden’ is a good place to live in.
At the quiet ‘Tuen-mun’, a villa is built therein.
To the temple, you can taste vegetarian food.
In the pub at ‘Hong-qiu’, the drink is very good.
You can play freely at the private swimming pool.
Under the trees at courtyard, the breeze is so cool.
Chinese music can be heard in an open space.
You may chant poems and prepare tea in your own place.

By chance, I met my bosom friend in excitement.
At my home, we talked about the past and current.
My wife prepared wine for us to drink in the living room.
Nevertheless, my daughter hid herself in her bedroom.
We did not have lover the very year when we departed.
To-day, we had next generation as we were wedded.
There would be hundred of big events to be told.
Cigarette butts piled up and the ashtray could not hold.

So thus drinking bottles of wine with my friend, Charley !
I played fiddle according to the ancient music book.
In chess competition, I defeated the famous crook.
Papers and cups always scattered on my table.
At times, songs and reading sound were full of my aisle.
Drunken and sleepy, I asked my guests to leave my den.
Having no urgent matter, they would be coming again.

Dried leaves are blown away by the cool autumn breezes.
Storm attacks us when Double Ninth Festival approaches.
Rain makes noise in parasol tree and puts us in wetness.
Clouds break up in the clear sky thus all become auspicious.
Misfortune goes ; good fortune comes and trade resumes.
People live in peace ; country turns strong and tourism booms.
Everybody looks happy as pestilence vanishes.
Since Hong Kong unites like one man, business flourishes.

Plum, Orchid, Chrysanthemum And Bamboo【By Charles Wu】
The gaudy plum was in full bloom under frost and snow.
Without any make-up, the fragrance of orchid did flow.
Chrysanthemum could resist the blow of the cold wind.
Bamboo did not look yellow in winter when the ice thinned.
On the eaves, its tip merged into the shadow of plum.
The gallery was full of green leaves and stick blossom.
Fragrant smell would be spreading outside the garden.
For flowers, skiers rushed busily to this region.

To Mourn My Nephew【By Charles Wu】
The moon shone solemnly in a chilly long winter night.
Cranes cried and wolves howled terribly under the moonlight.
Dead leaves hit against the tomb then dropping to the ground.
The parents were sad to lose their son thus walking around.
To mourn his death from afar, I burnt joss stick and candle.
I prayed that God would change his soul into an angel.
Should there be Samsara day from the saviour.
He could be a good doctor to console his mother .

Fragrance from their concentric buds goes through the window.
When can I rest on my window to admire such flower ?
For many years far from home, I am still a wanderer.

Knocking the doors of the alms givers at night, he kowtowed.

After retirement, fishing gave me a lot of pleasure.
I chose my golden rod and bait at the time of leisure.
Cutting appropriate wood, I made my special float.
The broken creel was repaired and I went angling by boat.
At a water-surrounded rock, I whipped my fishing rod.
The hook flew so high in the sky and the sea gulls were awed.
Sweating under the hot sun, I never missed a hooked fish.
Friends admired my harvest which was as good as I did wish.

To cure my hemorrhoids, I saw the surgical doctor.
After checking my large intestine, he found a cancer.
As such, I made a will about my wealth to my children.
I cracked joke without worry as all my things had been done.
In the operation, an electronic endoscope was used.
The tumour was cut but my intestine was not bruised.
Thanks for the modern medical technology.
People could live for one hundred years and still healthy.

Torrential rain comes timely and I am so happy.

I tried in vain to re-visit the three gorges.
For the past few years, I made other choices.
The old photographs brought me joyous memory.
I was cheerful in reviewing the previous journey
The rocky precipice at “Feng-jie” stood high and steep.
“Qu-tang” gorge made all craftsmen want to weep.
To honour the loyal “Zhang-fei”, people built a temple.
“Liu-bei” entrusted his son to “Zhu Ge-liang” in his castle.
No tourist was found on the plank road built in ancient time.
At the cliff, all studied the inscription of verse with rhyme.
An imperial beauty blamed her king for the blind wedding.
The banished “Qu-yuan” wrote patriotic poems, so touching !
Thick fog from “Si-chuan” was shrouding on the ”Ning” River.
In “Xi-ning” gorge, tourists were amazed by the rapid water.
At Mount “Wu”, it was fine one minute but rainy the next.
The shy fairy maiden therein was happy yet highly-sexed.
In the mountain pass, rocks like rare book and sword could be seen.
At last, the ferry arrived “Ge-zhou” Dam. What a grand scene !
Misty! Good! Thrilling! Splendid! None could conclude its essence.
The scenery was too pretty to be described all at once.

You can enjoy good food and scenery by the table.
Everything looks perfect but this is not my country.

In a high building, I enjoy the breeze and scenery.
I am caught by the carmine fruits of the pomegranate tree.
Graceful wind caresses its leaves looking vividly green.
The fruits are so abundant that all its branches lean.
Its red tube flowers are prepared to contend in beauty.
Nodding each other, its buds bend forward briskly.
People deem it as a symbol of mass production.
Those who pick its fruits are the jumping naughty children.

Parting for many years, I was glad to see my children.
In the crude new house, there was a warming party.

Which team wins the championship in the Dragon Boat Race ?

During the first event, many pretty girls play their ace.

The ladies paddle so hard that they become all sweaty.

With the rhythmic sound of the drum, they shout so sweetly.

The concubine, then the Tang Queen should put her heart at ease.

Qu-yuan is glad though he is a difficult man to please.

Men and women now enjoy the equal right without grumble.

Female astronaut will drive spacecraft in the next Festival.

Re-visit Chao-zhou & Shan-tou【By Charles Wu】
All of us travelled again through “Hou-men”  to “Shan-tou”.
Steamed goose and sea food tasted better than those of “Chao-zhou”.
In “Lu-feng”, people repaired their “Xuan-wu” temple timely.
“Chen” families had built their famous house since “Qing” Dynasty.
We worshipped the ancient “Kei-yuan” Buddha just for fun.
A touch of the holy ox would bring us good fortune.
In a farm, we ate some delicious barbecued eel.
The tea show at “Qin-yuan-chun” was but a commercial deal.

They can enjoy the Yellow River in ”Zhengzhou” direct.
Copper articles of “Yin” Dynasty amaze all Chinese.
The boxing played by “Shao-lin” monks is the best in all cities.
“Long-men” is a famous place with stone statues of Buddha.
The well-known judge, “Bao Zhen” was born at “He-nan” in China.
At “Luo-yang”, tourists visit the White Horse monastery.
Abbot died and the present one cannot tell good story.

The elegant ancient woods tower over the sky.
Tourists enjoy the sunrise on Mount “Ali” so high.
The sun looks red at first and turns to be silvery bright.
Its ray is so brilliant that makes everything white.
Through the rosy clouds, it shines the beauty of the mountain.
The clouds then swallow all peaks and fly in million.
In Hong Kong, Taiwan and China, all watch the scene so grand.
The sun goes to the west and falls in love with the mainland.

I visit my old acquaintances in Sydney freely.
My friends and relatives show their kind hospitality.
We take a walk in Chinatown there and go shopping.
To explore the beauty at Manley, our boat is sailing.
The Opera House can be seen clearly near the bridge.
Pelican is found at shallow sea walking like ostrich.
We see rainbow on the waterfall near Three Sisters Rock.
The fairyland at Blue Mountain gives us a great shock.

After promotion, my daughter works in Singapore.

Parents go to visit her and have a merry tour.

The Merlion welcomes us by gushing out water.

All cable cars sing rock and roll above Santosa.

In the National Day carnival, fireworks are set.

The grand parade with music, we shall never forget.

Millions of people rejoice but only I sigh.

Like a snail without shell, we look for a house nearby.
