梅蘭菊竹【原創 : 吳銓高】物22古韻
欺霜怒放豔梅狂 , 洗盡鉛華蘭自芳。菊冒寒風枝耐冷 ; 冰封大地竹難黃。
青梢疏影攀檐瓦 ; 綠葉條英映畫廊。撲鼻清香飄戶外 , 尋芳踏雪為花忙。

Plum, Orchid, Chrysanthemum And Bamboo【By Charles Wu】
The gaudy plum was in full bloom under frost and snow.
Without any make-up, the fragrance of orchid did flow.
Chrysanthemum could resist the blow of the cold wind.
Bamboo did not look yellow in winter when the ice thinned.
On the eaves, its tip merged into the shadow of plum.
The gallery was full of green leaves and stick blossom.
Fragrant smell would be spreading outside the garden.
For flowers, skiers rushed busily to this region.

月冷風寒冬夜長 , 狼嚎鶴唳倍凄涼。投墳枯葉悲敲土 ; 喪子慈親暗斷腸。
香燭虔焚遙拜祭 ; 靈魂安息勿徜徉。他朝若有輪迴日 , 應作名醫慰汝娘。

To Mourn My Nephew【By Charles Wu】
The moon shone solemnly in a chilly long winter night.
Cranes cried and wolves howled terribly under the moonlight.
Dead leaves hit against the tomb then dropping to the ground.
The parents were sad to lose their son thus walking around.
To mourn his death from afar, I burnt joss stick and candle.
I prayed that God would change his soul into an angel.
Should there be Samsara day from the saviour.
He could be a good doctor to console his mother .

家園北望路茫茫 , 歲晚思梅憶故鄉。玉頰籠煙頻問訊 ; 冰肌吐蕊費猜詳。
枝頭交頸穿疏影 ; 花底同心逗暗香。舊屋芸窗何日倚 , 飄零又歷幾星霜。

How Is The Plum
Looking at north, I know my homeland is much farther.
Being home sick, I want to see plums in late winter.
I ask my friend if their jade cheeks are still covered by mist.
Whether their blossoms grow stamen is in my checklist.
Their branches interlock together dredging queer shadow.
Fragrance from their concentric buds goes through the window.
When can I rest on my window to admire such flower ?
For many years far from home, I am still a wanderer.

As a beginner, you wrote a good poem to our surprise.
In the website competition, you had won a prize.
The Keelung wanderer wished to return to his homeland.
Wu’s family at Bei-jiao prepared wine in their farmland.
You went to Taiwan and left us for half a century.
Please return home for a reunion timely.
Dressed in silken clothes, you were warmly welcome.
China did reform thus people had wealth and freedom.

On its trunk, the thorns look so sharp but natural.
They are satires on political affairs for our people.
Its blossoms resemble red peppers pointing to the north.
All palm leaves hold the grievances of the public henceforth.

We toured the fairyland at 'Yiu-lin' later.

The grotto looked so queer, wide and beautiful.

Reeds and pipes formed by stalactites were plentiful

While fishing at night, I stay until dawn.

Chilly wind greets me from the sea upon.

It wells up waves to tease the moon shadow.

Amplifying the sound of shore billow.

Sometimes, it cries sadly like lone spirit.

The wind plays music of my favourite.

For the whole night, it roars its grievances.

Pleading not guilty to all the charges.

Thousands of people greet the best horse in the field.
It runs so fast yet easily though not four-wheeled.
Its speed is higher than the wind and bird in the sky.
Sometimes it neighs on the grass; sometimes it looks so shy.
Is it the son of the famous horse owned by the king?
Its excellent performance makes all horse owners awing.
It wins many open events in an easy way.
Leaving his good name in the racing world today.

The Chung Yeung Festival【By Charles Wu】
The weather is bright and fine on the Chung Yeung Festival,
We would worship our ancestors in this special seasonal.
On that day, we bring roasted meat and joss candle.
Ascending the height, we sweep the ancestral grave in faithful.
None will put pepper on their hair to get rid of evil.
Most Chinese still drink chrysanthemum wine as usual.
Traffic jam makes us missing the lunch . What a pity!
Long queues are seen outside all restaurants in our city.

Ascending a height, I can see far away.
The sea breeze greets me on a sunny day.
Billows tries to swallow the morning cloud.
It makes the sky floating and the sun shouting aloud.
Thousand of sailing boats are driven to the horizon.
Dirty waters become clean when they enter the ocean.
None can tell the exact dimension and depth of the sea.
It resembles a broad-minded person which I envy.

People near and far smelled the fragrance of lotus blossom.
It came from the Buddhist parade with music of drum.
Celestial song was better than wealth and high position.
Eminent monk preached Buddhism while all took a lesson.

Horse of outside chance should win this time but lost bluntly.
Bettors were angry and clamored against the jockey.
In my old age, I knew at last the race was but a fraud.
However, many horse fans deemed the trainer as their God.

Cicada chirps in the tree under the hot summer sun.
‘Pipa’ fruits hang so high that plucking work cannot be done.
At noon, tourists are eager to eat some without success.
Singing freely, oriole pecks the food it does possess.
