園栽籬菊秀 ; 徑抱檜陽斜。恍進靈仙境 , 襟虛若道家。

To Live In Seclusion【By Charles Wu】

Brewing tea with mountain's spring water,

While drinking it, I enjoy the music of Zither.

Grey-haired elders praise beauty of maple,

As youngsters making fun by chasing crow.

Delicate chrysanthemum floral is my favor,

I also love to watch the rich sunset aglow.

Immersing to these fairyland wonders, I realize,

Nature and simplicities are the best living truth.

Overlooking the earth afar from the universe,

Jiu-Quan is honored for its aeronautics success.

Spaceship returned safely and landed in China.

The world cheered for the great success of Asia.

The hero waved hands to greet welcoming people,

His fans and friends congratulated him with flower.

The very first time to explore the galaxy floor,

Chinese people progressed mission with honor.

Snatching leisure from busy schedule, I read poems freely.
They are sweet, bitter, fragrant and thick as the wonderful tea.
Some describe the heroic spirit of the ancient marshal.
Forced to get married, the poor girl chanted one with her fiddle.

The carefree old man plucks sponge gourd to his basket.
His action is so funny as if playing trumpet .
The scenery of the outskirt is in its splendours.
After work, he admires the rosy clouds and spring flowers .

水邊籬落影橫斜 , 溪畔春開幾樹花。潤雨親扶迎國色 ; 初陽輕抱傲朝霞。
瓊欺霜雪怯寒凍 ; 風盪檀心香邇遐。節勁姿貞無俗韻 , 冰肌玉骨伴仙家。

Plum Tree In Spring【By Charles Wu】
Shadow of plum tree can be seen slanting in the water.
It grows near the stream and blooms beautiful flower.
The spring drizzle carefully moistens its blossoms which yawn.
Shone by the morning sun, it looks as rosy cloud at dawn.
Conquering the weather, it fights against the frost and snow.
Its fragrance can be smelt near and far when the wind does blow.
With vigorous branches, it has an unique appearance.
Made of icy skin and jade bone, it is god’s preference.

尺緘驟至喜無加 , 輾轉離鄉數歲華。兩字平安安父母 : 幾行閒話話桑麻。
拋開百念從頭讀 ; 勝獲千緡在手誇。枕恬餘歡猶入夢 , 萬般心事託飛槎。

Family Letter【By Charles Wu】
Receiving letter from my daughter, I am so happy.
A few years has passed since she left home in a hurry.
The most pleasing words being “ I am safe and healthy! ”
The contents about trivial are as sweet as honey.
Dropping everything, I read it once and again.
Then I say my prayers , “May God bless you! Amen ! ”
I dream to stay at her bed and tell my daughter a tale.
This dream is included in my reply by airmail.

Loquat trees with leaves as ears of donkey grow in the hill.
Their fragrant flowers are as white as snow in a chill.
In different season, they change their appearance.
During summer, their golden fruit is my preference.

Since this winter, all have changed to be promising.
The pestilence disappears and people are smiling.
Tourists come again as Hong Kong resumes its prosperity.
Hot money rushes in while shops become very busy.
China succeeds in launching the spaceship to its orbit.
The astronaut moves round the earth and achieves his target.
Our science and technology will exceed Britain and France.
The power of our country is in great advance.

To Write Poems【By Charles Wu】

Common people can write articles of fineness.
Their master pieces will make them famous.
In the course of conceiving, they lie in heir bed.
Closing the door, they always scratch their head.
When they finish their poem in a specific time ,
They are very happy as all sentences rhyme.
Thinking deeply, they break their beard when finish one line.
Celebrating their work with the moon, they drink wine.

Longing For My Daughter In A Moonlight Night【By Charles Wu】
Although the moon floats high in sky,
the moonlight beam is never lost.
It even beats the bright color of frost,
and shines on mandarin ducks passing by.
Enjoying scenery of Canada's beautiful,
the newly wedded couple is very delightful.
They got married and left home in spring.
How time flies ; it's now in autumn's wing.
My dear baby, we miss you so much !
Blessings won't be blocked in mileage.
May you be happy and joys fill your marriage,
you'll be home soon to refresh your family touch.

The wind blows over the scholar land

On which good poems will be pre-planned.

The bank willow teases the new moon.

Bridge light will kiss the spring flowers soon.

As Mr. Tao, I live in seclusion.

I can write Li’s verse after a fashion.

People always say spring night is very short.

“The retired will not feel the same ! ” I retort.

穗地觀商店 ; 粵區尋展場。珠江燈火燦 ; 光孝寺名揚。
軍校稱黃埔 ; 公園訪五羊。中山倡憲法 ; 烈士葬花崗。
雞嫩蝦肥美 ; 橙甜荔熟香。繁華非昔比 , 景物永難忘。

The Guang-zhou Tour【By Charles Wu】
I was homesick during Mid-autumn festival.  
Returning to Guang-zhou, I saw my aunt as usual.
All my relatives greeted me cordially.
The reunion made everybody very happy.
We visited the market and went shopping.
Touring the exhibition centres, we kept on roaming.
The lights along Pearl River were so brilliant.
‘Guang-xiao’ Temple was pretty famous but ancient.
‘Huang-pu’ military school became world renown.
‘Five-Sheep’ park was located in the centre of the town.
The constitution written by Dr. Sun did succeed.
In yellow-flower hillock, martyrs were proudly buried.
All restaurants provided delicious shrimp and chicken.
The orange was so sweet and ‘Li-zhi’ fruit so ripen.
This place was much more flourishing than before.
Everything was unforgettable and I did adore.

The youngsters of Husky and beauty were amazing.
They dressed up brightly to do acrobatics and sang.
We went touring the market after show finished.
And tasted the fruits of Guangxi's as we wished.

偉景花園好地方 , 屯門靜處建洋房。東鄰藍地多齋廟 ; 北接虹橋聚酒廊。
池闊無波堪戲泳 ; 庭幽有樹可乘涼。妙音絲竹隨風至 , 詩韻茶香正繞樑。

My Villa At Tuen-mun【By Charles Wu】
The ‘Granddeur Garden’ is a good place to live in.
At the quiet ‘Tuen-mun’, a villa is built therein.
To the temple, you can taste vegetarian food.
In the pub at ‘Hong-qiu’, the drink is very good.
You can play freely at the private swimming pool.
Under the trees at courtyard, the breeze is so cool.
Chinese music can be heard in an open space.
You may chant poems and prepare tea in your own place.

By chance, I met my bosom friend in excitement.
At my home, we talked about the past and current.
My wife prepared wine for us to drink in the living room.
Nevertheless, my daughter hid herself in her bedroom.
We did not have lover the very year when we departed.
To-day, we had next generation as we were wedded.
There would be hundred of big events to be told.
Cigarette butts piled up and the ashtray could not hold.

Poem, Wine, Fiddle & Chess【By Charles Wu】
Chanting poem and pairing couplet made me happy.
So thus drinking bottles of wine with my friend, Charley !
I played fiddle according to the ancient music book.
In chess competition, I defeated the famous crook.
Papers and cups always scattered on my table.
At times, songs and reading sound were full of my aisle.
Drunken and sleepy, I asked my guests to leave my den.
Having no urgent matter, they would be coming again.

Dried leaves are blown away by the cool autumn breezes.
Storm attacks us when Double Ninth Festival approaches.
Rain makes noise in parasol tree and puts us in wetness.
Clouds break up in the clear sky thus all become auspicious.
Misfortune goes ; good fortune comes and trade resumes.
People live in peace ; country turns strong and tourism booms.
Everybody looks happy as pestilence vanishes.
Since Hong Kong unites like one man, business flourishes.
