詩的內容是這樣︰

Around the corner I have a friend,
In this great city that has no end,
在附近街口我有一位朋友，
茫茫大都市裡我難得擁有。

Yet the days go by and weeks rush on,
And before I know it, a year is gone.
日子一天一週地飛逝，歲月常新，
在我察覺之前，又過了一春。   

And I never see my old friends face,
For life is a swift and terrible race,
我再不能見到這個老朋友的面,
生命是一場可怕的賽跑, 快速如箭。

He knows I like him just as well,
As in the days when I rang his bell.
他喜歡我, 我也喜歡他的真，
我按鈴造訪他, 在那些早晨。

And he rang mine but we were younger then,
And now we are busy, tired men.
他也回訪我，那時我們還是年輕人，
現在我們卻變了繁忙疲憊的平民。

Tired of playing a foolish game,
Tired of trying to make a name.
疲憊到不想去玩那無聊的遊戲，
疲憊到不想去尋藉口, 找名義。

"Tomorrow" I say ! "I will call on Jim
Just to show that I'm thinking of him."
"明天我將拜訪占美”, 我自語頻頻，
僅僅為了表示我還在想念這芳鄰。

But tomorrow comes and tomorrow goes,
And distance between us grows and grows.
明日復明日, 時間過了很久，
我們之間的距離越來越厚。

Around the corner, yet miles away,
"Here's a telegram sir," "Jim died today."
就在附近街角, 卻像距離我千千畝，
"請收電報 ! 今天占美已往天堂走 ! “

And that's what we get and deserve in the end.
Around the corner, a vanished friend.
善惡到頭終有報, 有果必有因。
在街角的朋友已過了身。

Remember to always say what you mean.
If you love someone, tell them. Don't be afraid to express yourself.
Reach out and tell someone what they mean to you. Because when you
decide that it is the right time it might be too late. Seize the day.
Never have regrets. And most importantly, stay close to your friends and
family, for they helped you make a better person that you are today.
請你記得對別人說你心底的話。
如果你愛某人，告訴他。
不要害怕表白自己。
直接告訴某人, 他對你是多麼重要。
如果你要等到適當的時候才說出來，
可能是太遲了。
珍惜每一天。
則此生無悔。
最重要的是，要珍惜眼前人，
因為他們能令你, 今天生活得更精采。
